Our current pickup location is at 580 Tallassee Rd. Athens, GA 30606, across the street from the Waseca Learning Environment and the Greater Athens Church of God.
Before you order, please read the most recent weblog entry to see how things have changed here in the age of COVID-19. Details you may find elsewhere on the site (such as pickup location, times, payment accepted, and other important details) are superseded by whatever is in the weblog.
We take orders all day Monday and Tuesday until 8pm.

Bavarian Rye is for the more "serious bread eater." It is for those who know that the essence of bread, true bread, is an "old soul." Deep and slightly pungent flavors of Carolina-grown organic whole wheat and rye are pronounced and topped with aromatic and antioxidant-packed caraway and dill seed. When I used to make this bread for a local open-air farmers market, I could always count on seeing RoseMarie, returning for her loaf or two of Bavarian Rye-- one for herself, one for her daughter. It thrills me to bake for all of you, all of my customers. This loaf is an earthy, hearty bread made with 100% stone ground rye flour (we mill our whole rye fresh). Naturally leavened, without commercial yeast. The process of fermentation not only affects the texture and rise of the dough, but also works to break down the glutenous proteins and produces gut-friendly lactobacilli which promote healthy gastro-intestinal flora! Besides that, there is just nothing like the feeling of comfort, nourishment, and hearty nutrition given by an honest loaf of bread.
Bread may be kept unwrapped, open-face-down on a cutting board, or you may choose to wrap it up, box it up or go ahead and eat it up JUST PLEASE DON'T KEEP IT IN THE FRIDGE. You may also decide to freeze the bread for a later time; that's great -- the bread freezes beautifully. There is nothing in "real bread" that needs to be refrigerated. In fact, tracking the nuanced flavor development over a number of days can be a wild adventure in itself.
If you do take your time in eating off your loaf, it may need a refreshment in a couple of days. Slice a portion off, spritz it with a little water and warm it in your oven or a pan on open fire.
