Easy-growing annual vine with lacy leaves and brilliant red flowers make a dainty screen that you'd rather look at than through. Cypress-vine is an excellent source of nectar for butterflies and hummingbirds. Once it begins to bloom, cypress vine will continue to bloom until frost. Planted on a trellis, fence, or even a string tied to an overhead support, cypress vine will grow 6 to 20 feet in one summer. Like many other easy to grow plants, cypress vine will multiply from seeds if the conditions are just right for it. Either plant it where this will not be a problem, and remove the seed pods as they appear. Alternatively, young plants are easily weeded out. Cypress vine is native to Mexico and tropical America but has escaped cultivation and can be found here and there in roadsides and disturbed areas throughout much of the eastern United States from Florida and Texas north to at least Kansas and Ohio. Experts say it has caused little concern among those who would protect us from exotic pest plants, probably because it does not appear to be replacing any native species or disrupting natural plant communities.

Barnyard eggs all 2 - 2.5 oounces each. Hens have a very large henhouse (where they lay their eggs) to protect them from the weather, but they prefer to roost in the peach tree. To keep them out of mischief in the garden, they have a run the same width as their henhouse is long & half as long as the garden (MUCH larger area than my house!). Scratch feed, saved corn & grains from the summer, are always available (as is well water) & they have a multitude of "misplaced wildflowers" to peck through (they get their hard shells from the high calcium garden greens). This is a mixed flock. Currently the Rhode Island Red (light brown), Americana (blue/green) & Black Marans (dark brown) are claiming the nest boxes with the lesser breeds waiting for space.

Our young pullets have started laying light brown LARGE size Grade A eggs from our Dominque and other heritage type chickens. We let our chickens free-range in a greenhouse which we attached to our barn. We allow our hens to graze on pasture in the afternoons. (We have a problem with a raskley chicken hawk that hangs around in the mornings) Our feed is ground by a local Hart county feed mill. The hen ration contains only corn, soybean meal, vitamins and oyster shells. We also feed greens from the garden each day. Overall I feel that we produce a quality product at a fair price. The chickens have a quality stress free life and produce great eggs.

Our young pullets have started laying Light brown MEDIUM size Grade A eggs from our Dominque and other heritage chickens. Our hens are housed free-range in a greenhouse attached to our barn. We allow the chickens out to pasture in the afternoons. (We have a problem with a raskley chicken hawk in the mornings) We feed a ration ground here in Hart county by a local feed mill.
