This is a flowering deciduous shrub, native to Japan, with dark pink flowers and foliage that changes from red to bronze to maroon as it matures. It needs 6-8hrs of sunlight per day, and tolerates droughty conditions. It has a compact mound of 2ft high and 2ft wide. The flowers will attract butterflies.

Not a rose but a profusely blooming, drought-tolerant shrub with showy blossoms and nectar that attract hummingbirds and tiny insects that hummers also eat. Native to India and East Asia, it is the national flower of Korea. Rose of Sharon come in several colors -- these are a light lavender color. They are small now, but will grow rapidly. In full sun, these will become multi-stemmed shrubs that are 8 to 10 feet tall unless they are pruned back while dormant (which we recommend because it increases the number of blooms). Rose of Sharon are deciduous shrubs, so they lose their leaves in winter, which makes it easy to prune them at that time.
