I’m all about being a Vitalist! My daughter and I, Mica, moved here from Southern Arizona, where we were seasonal Wildcrafters, Biodynamic Native Seed Gardeners and Herbalists.
We left hoping to launch an herbfarm on land that was given to us in South Carolina. We have a beautiful creek on our land, Little Generositee Creek, and many springs.
My husband and I met at a local farmer market in Hartwell. You probably know him, Michael McMullan.
This farm is all about creating a haven of untamed nature for our children- Mica, Ruby and Opal.
I learned to farm in the mountains on the outskirts of Tucson. We double-digged, built sunken beds and waited for the blessed monsoon rain. I still miss the sunsets in Tucson after a daily rain shower and the vivid rainbows.
I was a wildcrafter out west. We harvested desert lavender, chaparral, artemesia ludoviciana, mormon tea, saguaro fruit, brittlebush, jojoba berries, oregon grape, wild mate, verbena, uva ursi, and on and on. I sold the herbs at local health stores and even salons. Some of our botanicals went to companies who sold bulk herbs and supported ethical wildcrafters.
I have worked at health stores all over the country as an herbalist- from upstate NY to NYC, Jupiter FL, Tucson AZ and Boulder CO.
I have always had a deep fascination for plants that are our native wild ‘weeds.’ As a teenager in New Jersey, I watched our country town turn into suburbia. And along with this change, changed the plants as well. I spent summers roaming the meadows, picking flowers- studying plants along the creeks- popping bladder campions…you get the picture. The plantlife was all so vast and beautiful.
In highschool, I started my first natural cosmetics company- face packs, skin astringents and toners, lotions and creams, lipglosses- all those things that teenage girls craved to keep their faces pimple free!
These three girls are the ‘gems’ of my life. They are this business. They plant, wash, giggle, cut(Mica), munch, bless and shine.
We give to all of you who support us, our love and thanks.
Peace,
Love and
Light.
